Description:
Today’s double oaked Imperial Stout began the way many legendary brews do — as a conversation.
Chad Ringler of Brewerks was enjoying a drink with his friend and former boss, Gabe Fletcher of Anchorage Brewing, when the idea of a collab first got floated.
Three days of brewing, a lengthy fermentation process, and two barrel aging sessions later, Dark Cescendo was born — two whole years after that first conversation.
This release is so new, we haven’t gotten a chance to taste any yet. But after 12 months in Hemingway Rye barrels, followed by 8 months in Willet Rye barrels, we’re expecting this showstopper to teem with plenty of cask complexity.
Look forward to decadent notes of fudgy chocolate and caramel coming off the base beer. Additions of toasted coconut and Haitian cocoa nibs should translate to rich, Mounds bar nuances, leading to expressive layers of oaky whiskey and vanilla on the smooth finish.
And based on some of the other incredible dark beers we’ve gotten from Alaska, we’re expecting that bold 19.5% ABV to go down dangerously smooth.
It just goes to show that having a beer with a buddy can lead to something truly extraordinary! So, we recommend sharing some swigs with a close friend. Who knows what could come from it?
