I’m willing to bet you’ve never heard of all the varieties of vanilla 3 Sons loaded into today’s brand new Barrel Aged Stout. (And it would probably take most people a minute to locate all the countries they come from on a map.)
But if you manage to nab a bottle of Fractional BA Vanilla Bean Dream, you can taste all that decadence for yourself!
The team crafted this sipper by aging a rich Imperial Stout in Buffalo Trace barrels for 17 months and infusing it with a whopping SIX species of vanilla beans from FIFTEEN different countries:
- Planifolia vanilla beans - Comoros, Congo, French Guyana, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, and Uganda
- Tahitensis vanilla beans - Papua New Guinea
- Cribbiana vanilla beans - Guatemala
- Odorata vanilla beans - Ecuador
- Tsy Taitra vanilla beans - Costa Rica
- Pompona vanilla beans - Madagascar
- Bahiana vanilla beans - Brazil
We haven’t gotten to taste this one yet, because no one has, but we’re imagining indulgent layers of marshmallow, oak, and angel food cake enrobed in fudgy chocolate tones. Look for hints of bourbon caramel flickering around the edges, like the caramel crust atop a silky crème brûlée. And it all ought to finish with lingering notes of creamy ‘nilla.
I’ll make another bet with you: Taste this brew and nobody at the bottle share will ever use the word ‘vanilla’ to mean ‘boring’ again!
