Description:
Moon on Their Wings is Alesong’s newest edition in their Favorite Things series of beer-wine hybrids. Each one takes its name from a phrase in the iconic song from The Sound of Music, and if past variants are anything to go by, all you Wild Ale aficionados might be looking at another favorite.
The award-winning team began with a blend of Sour Blonde Ales aged in French oak. Then they infused it with grenache grapes from Quail Run Vineyards in Southern Oregon, giving each quaff vinous nuances and a gorgeous garnet hue.
Expect bright, fruity acidity to open the sip, invoking red stone fruit and ripe raspberries. Whispers of hay, oak, and leather ought to ground the taste, leading to a dry finish kissed with complex tannins and hints of white pepper.
You could certainly pair this beauty with crisp apple strudels or schnitzel with noodles, but it’ll be just as pleasant on its own.
And if you start twirling around and singing like Julie Andrews, it means you probably found the 9.9% ABV!
