It’s no secret that we love Fonta Flora’s Appalachian Lambic-style beers. And with consistently high ratings from all you Sour stans out there, it seems that we’re not alone!
So naturally we had to pick up a stash of Touriga before they’d even released it at the taproom!
To create this gorgeous red pour, the brewers co-fermented one of their spontaneous Ales with locally grown touriga grapes.
The deep purple fruits — famously used in some of Portugal’s finest wines — should add nuances of plum, dark cherry, and blackberry to the tangy base beer. Hints of lemon zest and whispers of wild funk ought to make for a deeply complex tasting experience.
It’s the sort of multi-faceted Ale that will appeal to wine lovers and beer fans alike. In fact, we’d recommend stashing a bottle away for a few months to enjoy alongside a holiday meal this fall. That is, if you can resist the urge to open it for that long!
