A collab between Sante Adairius and Fair Isle is already epic, but THIS 4.38 UT-rated Saison is truly upper echelon!
While fans might think it’s the pinnacle of Farmhouse Ales, and it IS brimming with verdant floral tones, that’s not why the brewers labeled it Monte Verde.
The name comes from the duo taking a complex Barrel Aged Saison base and layering it with Bears limes from Monte Verde orchard in Santa Cruz. The fruit provides the perfect accompaniment to the herbaceous, slightly citrusy tones of rose geranium from The Herbfarm Restaurant in Woodinville.
Anticipate aromas of rose, sage, and dried lime leading you into your glass for a taste. The clean, effervescent quaff should reveal vibrant nuances of citrus and mint supported by hints of hay, oak, and a pinch of pepper. Plus, it will all culminate in a balanced finish with a snap of floral hibiscus.
We think it’d pair phenomenally with picnic lunch after a scenic morning hike. It would also go great with Thai food, a creamy brie, or savored all on its own, preferably alongside a fellow Sour Ale fan!
