I love a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Except make it a Barleywine. And age it in two kinds of bourbon barrels.
My mom never packed anything like that in my lunch, but luckily for me the crew at Transient Artisan Ales is way cooler than my mom.
To create today’s JCVD That’s a Chunky, the brewers aged a malty base beer in Blis maple bourbon barrels for 2.5 years. Then they transferred the brew to Eastern Kille bourbon barrels for another year and lunched it up with additions of peanuts and grape juice. They even topped the whole thing off with a dose of cacao nibs for extra decadence.
Imagine a classic PB&J with a swirl of chocolate frosting and a dollop of maple syrup, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what’s in store. As long as you also chase it with a swig of top shelf bourbon.
We recommend drinking it with lunch. But only if you have nothing to do for the rest of the afternoon, because this sandwich also comes with a 12% ABV! So maybe DON’T take it to work.
