My name is Tim, and I'm one of the writers here at Tavour.
We sat down with Tim to get to know the person behind the words.
What's the best concert you've been to?
You know, I'm just gonna out myself as Tavour's resident nerd and say the concert that probably spoke to me the most was a symphony that I went to… and it was for sure Final Fantasy in concert because that was like rewatching my childhood and listening to the the actual best music in the world.
What book left a big impression on you?
I think everyone here knows that the true series at, like, the core of me is Lord of the Rings. First time I ever read it I was probably like 11 and I remember just bawling at the end because the journey was coming to an end and I wasn't ready for it to end. And I don't know what it is about it, but something about that just really gets to me, you know?
What's your hidden talent?
That's the real wonder right there. I don't have any talents. Zero. Absolute zero. I don't know. People that know me would probably be like, oh, you didn't say this but I feel like I'm a jackass of no trades.
What's your most used emoji?
Work appropriate or no? (laughs) Probably the rolling on the floor laughing emoji but the middle finger one gets used a lot too.
What's your favorite sports team?
Oh, that's easy. The Sounders, Seattle’s soccer team. Sounder till I die!
What's your favorite holiday?
I'm literally wearing a Halloween button up right now! It's August. (laughs) It's Halloween.
TV's at the bar, yes or no?
I think if you designate that it's a sports bar, then it's expected. Like, if there's not a TV at a sports bar you're doing it wrong. Although listening to the radio altogether would be interesting…
But I feel like your general pub is better off without it, just so everyone's focused on one another and having a good time and chatting. And the beer always helps that.
Salty or sweet snacks?
Can I say salty-sweet snacks? Because like honestly peanut butter is like my favorite thing in the whole world. So like it really blurs that line of salty and sweet, and I feel like that's the actual best spot.
What's your favorite cocktail?
I don't think you can beat an Old Fashioned. Anywhere I go, I can usually gauge how good a bar is based on their Old Fashioned, so that's gonna be my go-to almost everywhere.
Sabro hops, yes or no?
I'm fine with it. I don’t get suntan lotion. I get coconut, and it's very pleasant, so I'm pro-Sabro.
What's your ideal drinking scenario?
Free. (laughs) When people give me alcohol, and I get to consume it without paying for it, [that’s] the most ideal for me.
When you're hosting game night for your friends how do you choose the beer?
I'm just going for the most outlandish stuff I can catch them off guard with. So Fruited Sours will come out really quick. Really bizarrely adjuncted Stouts that they're not anticipating. Pickle beer, if I can get it into their cups without them smelling it first.
And then, after that, I usually bring out all my favorite Lagers and IPAs after I've shocked them a little bit.
What fictional character would you like to have as a co-worker and why?
Wow. That's a really hard question… There's so many really really good ones… But I feel like I would have to pick someone like Superman or Goku, just so I could selfishly be like, "Hey would you fly me home after work?" Maybe that's selfish, but you know I'm not here for good conversation. (laughs) I just want to go where I'm going fast.
What's a part of this job you consistently enjoy?
I don't think I've ever had a job that has let me be as creative and outlandish as I want to be at any given moment.
I think just the nature of beer is fun, and so the stuff we get to write is just zany and wacky and off the wall, and it's very liberating to get the go-ahead to write about something like Evil Dead 2 or Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros, you name it. It's so fun.
